- Exchange particulars of driver(s) such as name, NRIC/FIN/Driving Licence Number, contact number and address.
- Take down important details such vehicle registration number, name of insurance company, date, time and the location of the accident.
- If there are witnesses, note down their names, identification numbers, addresses and contact numbers.
- Take photographs of the scene of the accident.
- In the event of any bodily injury, dial 995 immediately.
- Do not admit or discuss liability with the opposite party/parties.
- Call your insurance company’s hotline for a tow truck (if your vehicle is disabled), or for further advice.
- Lodge a police report within 24 hours of the following motor accident cases:
a. Bodily injury;
b. Non-injury case involving a government vehicle or damage to government property;
c. Non-injury case involving a foreign-registered vehicle; hit and run vehicle;
d. Non-injury case involving a pedestrian or cyclist.
- Report and bring your accident vehicle (whether damaged or not) to the insurance company’s Authorised Workshop/Reporting Centre within 24 hours or by the next working day if the accident occurred during the weekend or on a Public Holiday. This is irrespective of whether you are claiming from another insurance company or third party.
- Documents required to lodge a report include driver’s driving licence and certificate of insurance.
